The Winooski is now closed for the regular trout season and will reopen on 4/13/2014. The Winooski has sections open to year round fishing as follows: From Lake Champlain upstream to the railroad bridge in Winooski (Lake Champlain Regulations). From railroad bridge in Winooski upstream to hydro dam in Winooski (Salmon Hole) (Closed March 16 to May 31). From hydro dam in Winooski upstream to Bolton Dam (Open to catch and release trout fishing with artificial lures and flies, other species see regulations). The Winooski is now closed for the regular trout season and will reopen on 4/13/2014. For open sections, streamers and weighted nymphs are most effective. Look for runs of landlocked salmon and rainbows to make runs up from Lake Champlain.
