My tips of the week
The offshore live chumming is real good right now. A variety of fish are likely to show up including Sailfish and Dolphin, Mahi Mahi not flipper. Cast netting the small baits are the key to success. The fly of choice to mimic the baits is the Bluewater Softy minnow from Orvis.

Fishing conditions: Summer is here and things are starting to happen. Water temps are rising and the Snook and Tarpon fishing is heating up as well. Conditions from now through September are usually very stable with calm conditions. Snook fishing is red hot right now, catch and release only.

Inshore temperature: 84 Degrees F

Offshore temperature: 82 Degrees F

Type of bait fish are feeding on: Summer time bait fish include Pilchards, Mullet and Threadfin Hearing. As well as Glass Minnows and Shrimp.

Fish species: Tarpon, Snook, Jacks, Cobia, False Albacore, Trout

Fishing season: Spring/summer

Techniques & Tips

During periods of calm wind this time of year you will have loads of opportunities in the Stuart area. We do alot of live chumming in the summer, and once we have the fish boiling behind the boat we throw flies at them that mimic the chum baits, usually small biatfish patterns that resemble, Pilchards and Glass minnows.
