Chris is a native Californian who's recently relocated from our Pasadena retail store. Prior to finding a home here at Orvis Roseville he was with the US Forest Service, cleaned up marine oil spills, was a TRW systems engineer and a charter boat captain. When he heard about the Roseville opening he stated "You can't drive an hour from that store and not be in good fishing. What do I have to do to get there? I'll even move ashore!" Not a small concession considering he's lived aboard his boat for the past several years. He said that his new apartment doesn't move enough to gently rock him to sleep like the boat did. Come on in and look for the fellow with the sailor's squint and the big grin.
Roseville Fishing Manager: Doug Duncan
Doug Duncan was introduced to trout fishing by his father in 1965 when he was just eight-years old. Little did he know then that fly fishing would be a life long passion! As a young man Doug spent weekends fishing for trout in high mountain streams and lakes in the Sierras. Since then he has fished for everything from kings in Alaska to bone fish in Cozumel. In 1982 Doug moved to the Sacramento area and currently lives only a few minutes away from the lower American river. For the past eight years, he has really enjoyed chasing Steelhead throughout the west with two-handed spey rods. Doug is a tournament spey caster, and in 2007 and 2008 he placed second at the international spey competition in San Francisco, losing to the best spey caster in the world by only six feet. When Doug isn't working in the Orvis store, you will see him on the American River with his two-handers swinging flies for Steelhead or practicing his distance casting.
