Orvis Answer Center
Welcome to the Orvis Answer Center for Sales Tax Questions! You'll find the answers to our most frequently asked questions concerning sales tax on orders.
Why does Orvis charge sales tax on my order?
Orvis is registered to do business and required to collect and pay sales tax on merchandise, and shipping and handling in all states that currently charge a sales tax. We do not charge sales tax on orders shipped to Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon. We charge tax on merchandise only in Idaho, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.
Why do some states not have to pay sales tax?
Every state has its own laws and regulations regarding online commerce and taxation. As such, there are a few states that do not require sales tax for online transactions. See the list of states for which Orvis does not charge sales tax.
If I purchase online, do I have to pay sales tax?
That depends entirely on the laws and regulations of your home state. Every state has its own taxation guidelines, and Orvis must collect all required taxes accordingly. Learn more about Orvis sales tax information.
