After Work Bass Fishout Series
Don't get out fishing as much as you'd like? Curious about what fishing opportunities are nearby? Join Orvis San Jose every second and fourth Thursday from June-August as we fish at different locations around the south bay for bass. The beginning of the class will be a short instruction and introduction to bass fishing followed by you putting your new skills to the test on the water. So bring your gear, and join us on the water after work for a few hours! Nominal entry or parking fees may apply. Contact Orvis San Jose for more details and to enroll.

Yosemite Sampler Fishout

The hidden gem of western fly fishing is arguably Yosemite National Park. Orvis San Jose and Orvis-Endorsed guide Jimmie Morales will lead a two-day trip to show you the amazing fishing Yosemite has to offer and teach you techniques of fishing small streams from Tuolumne Meadows at 7,000 feet for wiley and beautiful brook trout to rainbow trout on the Merced at 3,000 feet... with nobody else on the river! I have been with Orvis since 2007. Prior to my time at Orvis, I had worked at various retailers including a couple of years at REI. I also had a brief stint as a marketing manager for a biotech startup in Silicon Valley. While I enjoyed the marketing and sales environment, I realized that the office scene is not for me. Orvis provided me a happy middle ground for me -- a place where I can remain connected with the outdoors but still exercise business and sales development. I also have a love for science and have an undergraduate degree from San Jose State University in molecular biology.
My fishing experience before my career at Orvis mainly consisted of fishing the Lake Tahoe area with conventional tackle. After Orvis opened my eyes to the amazing sport of fly fishing, the conventional tackle quickly got replaced with fly gear. I enjoy fishing for wild browns, rainbows, and brook trout in the small creeks of the central Sierra Nevada from Lake Tahoe to Yosemite and Steelhead in the coastal rivers -- not to mention bass fishing in and around San Jose.
