Delivery & Drop Ship Answers
1.

What are your shipping charges?

Answer: Learn more about our shipping charges for:

1. Standard delivery 6. "At your service" delivery
2. Express delivery 7. Alaska/Hawaii deliveries
3. Second business day 8. Canadian deliveries
4. Next day service 9. International orders
5. Oversized items

2.

What is a drop ship item?

Answer: Drop ship merchandise is merchandise that is shipped directly from the manufacturer rather than an Orvis warehouse.

3.

What methods of delivery are available?

Answer: Orvis offers standard shipping, express (3 business day), second business day, and next business day service. Learn more about our delivery methods and shipping & handling charges.

4.

Why can't all items be delivered with express delivery? Why can't all items be gift packaged?

Answer: Some items are made exclusively for Orvis by external vendors—they ship items directly from their warehouse for speedier customer service, so we cannot offer express service or gift packaging on those items. Oversize items and furniture also cannot be gift packaged or express shipped.

5.

Why do some items have a longer delivery time than others?

Answer: Some handcrafted items, because they are made one at a time, may require a longer shipping time. In this case, the delivery times are always noted in the item copy.

6.

Why can't some items be delivered to Alaska or Hawaii?

Answer: Almost all of our items can, in fact, be delivered to Alaska or Hawaii, but delivery to these states requires additional shipping charges. Exceptions may include drop-ship and oversized items.
Contact our Customer Service department by live chat, e-mail, or phone about the delivery options for Alaska or Hawaii.

7.

The furniture I just ordered specifies "At Your Service" delivery. What does that mean?

Answer: “At Your Service” delivery is an optional in-home delivery service that we offer for furniture and oversize items. For an additional fee, Orvis will arrange for the item to be brought into your home, unpacked, and inspected for quality; all packing materials are then removed. This by-appointment service applies only to items that are specifically marked with an “At Your Service” icon and is only available in the contiguous 48 states. No gift packaging or express delivery is available for “At Your Service” delivery items.

8.

Do you deliver orders to Canada?

Answer: Yes! We are happy to serve our Canadian customers. We have a support center for our Canadian customers that should answer most of your questions. If you still have questions, please contact Orvis Customer Service.

9.

Do you deliver to the UK? Other countries?

Answer: Our UK customers are cordially invited to visit the Orvis in the UK website at www.orvis.co.uk. All merchandise is shown in British pounds, with retail stores and customer service all within the UK. You'll also find special retail events, sales and UK fly fishing expert articles and resources on www.orvis.co.uk.

We accept international orders on Orvis.com. Learn more about our shipping, handling and delivery for international orders.

10.

What is the cut-off time for next business day and express delivery? Can I place an order at 4:15 pm on Monday for a fly rod, pay for overnight delivery, and have it delivered on Tuesday?

Answer: The cut-off time for non-fishing merchandise is 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The cut-off time for fishing merchandise is 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. So if you want to order a fly rod for next business day delivery, be sure to order it prior to 3:00 pm Eastern Time.

11.

If the items in my order are shipped in separately, how much total shipping will be charged on my order?

Answer: Occassionally it is necessary to ship items in an order separately. For example, if items in your order are back-ordered, or if you have included a drop-ship item in your order, those items may be shipped separately. In the event this occurs, you'll be notified in your shipping notification e-mail.

If items in your order are shipped separately, then shipping is charged one time for the entire order, regardless of any additional shipments that may be necessary.

Here's an example of a shipping notification e-mail for a partial order shipment. In this example, the total shipping is $5.95 for the entire order—no additional shipping will be charged for the remaining order shipments.
