FLY FISHING FOR TROUT AT ESCATAWBA FARMS
This class begins with an in-store classroom session, starting at 7:00pm the night before arriving at the stream. Those topics of instruction best suited for delivery indoors will be covered at this time, followed by a review of each angler’s gear, and one last opportunity to make discounted purchases for this school. Overall, this off-site, one-day class is designed for anglers wanting to enjoy a superb trout fishing experience. Escatawba Farms sits on a breathtaking section of Dunlap Creek, a crystal-clear freestone stream situated in the Allegany Mountains of Virginia. The stream holds an abundance of beautiful heavy rainbow trout, some easily 24 inches in length. The home of abundant hatches, Dunlap Creek is perfectly suited for both dry fly and nymph fishing. With numerous pools and riffles, this stream offers challenges for anglers of all skill levels. For novice anglers and stillwater enthusiasts, Escatawba Farms also offers a one-and-a-half-acre, spring-fed lake. Each trip is limited to a maximum of eight rods, and will include casting techniques, line management, how to read water, entomology, and more. Those enrolled will receive an in-store 15% discount on fly fishing merchandise during the class. Lunch is provided, as well as recommendations for discounted lodging in the area for anglers.

SMALLMOUTH BASS SCHOOLS
This off-site class is designed for the novice angler wanting to learn basic techniques for successfully catching warm freshwater species. The Reedy Creek entrance to the James River is located less than 30 minutes from the store and provides ample opportunities to catch smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, catfish, gar, and the occasional resident striped bass. This location has a covered gazebo, where the classroom portion will be conducted and lunch will be provided. Topics covered will include basic fly casting, fly-fishing knots, and fly selection, as well as proper fly presentation on still and moving water. Those enrolled will receive an in-store 15% discount on fly fishing merchandise during the class. Each class is limited to a maximum of eight students.

2-HOUR CASTING CLINICS
(By Appointment) Cost is $75
These classes are a quick and easy way to learn the whole gamut of casts. The standard forward cast, the roll cast, and correcting tailing loops and other problems, as well as maintaining good hand position relative to fly presentation will be addressed.
