Over the last ten years, we've donated nearly $10 million to these organizations, including Trout Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, Coastal Conservation Association, Ducks Unlimited, The Conservation Fund, Ruffed Grouse Society, and The Atlantic Salmon Fund. A Message from Orvis CEO Perk Perkins.

For some projects, Orvis receives matching funds from other conservation and wildlife organizations that can triple or even quadruple the amount of your donation. 2009 Current Projects

Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project

There are approximately 740 Mountain Gorillas left on Earth; they live only in two small parks in the borderlands of Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo. With such a fragile population, the effects of illegal trapping, illnesses, and transmitted viruses (animal and human) are drastically magnified, and, if left unchecked, could lead to complete extinction. Our goal is to raise $30,000 (up to $60,000 with matching funds) with your help.

Trout Unlimited 50th Anniversary: 5 new projects to preserve fish habitat

TU and Orvis have teamed up to support five conservation efforts across the U.S. during TU’s 50th Anniversary year. Each effort is a matching grant of $10,000 from Orvis, with four of them also getting matching donations from the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation.

Au Sable River Restoration Project

The South Branch of Michigan’s famous Au Sable River is a 25 mile world-renowned stretch of classic small stream trout water. A lack of large woody debris, due to logging, has reduced cover which allows fish protection from environmental and predatory threats. Anglers of the Au Sable, a non-profit group, would place large woody debris in the river to maintain trout habitat. Your contribution will be matched by Orvis and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, tripling your donation. Our goal is to raise $150,000 with your help.

2008 Projects

Penobscot River Restoration Project

The restoration of the Penobscot River is an historical large-scale effort to remove both the Great Works and the Veazie Dams and to decommission and build a state-of-the-art fish bypass around Howland Dam. As a result of the Penobscot project, for the first time in nearly 200 years, hundreds of miles of habitat along the Penobscot and its tributaries will be re-opened for unobstructed travel on the river. Our goal is to raise $150,000 with your help.

Teton Creek Restoration Project

Donate to help restore fish and wildlife habitats.

The Teton Creek Restoration Project is a collaborative effort with Friends of the Teton River, landowners and local, state, and federal stakeholders on Teton Creek aimed at turning Teton Creek back into a productive spawning ground and migratory route for Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Our goal is to raise $90,000 with your help.

Casting for Recovery

Help sponsor fly fishing retreats for breast cancer survivors.

Fly fishing has more benefits than you may know of - Orvis and our customers raise over $50,000 annually to help breast cancer survivors heal through the sport and experience of fly fishing. Casting for Recovery retreats have already served 1,200 survivors in the US and Canada. Orvis will match your contribution to this group.

Tiger Guard Program to Restore the Indo-Chinese Tiger in Cambodia

Assist in the protection of tigers from poaching with your wildlife conservation contribution.

Tiger Guards serve as the first and most critical line of defense for protecting endangered species and their habitats, particularly in Cambodia’s Dry Forest Landscape, home to the Indo-Chinese tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti). Help restore the Indo-Chinese tiger population in Cambodia by joining with The Orvis Company and World Wildlife Fund in the fight against illegal poaching.
