Orvis Named Top Website After being named to Internet Retailer's Hot 100 back in December, Orvis.com is back in lights with more praise and recognition for superior web design, functionality and overall superior customer experience. A top e-commerce consulting organization, the e-tailing group, recognized Orvis.com as one of only 8 web merchants to receive its highest Platinum award. the e-tailing group mystery shops 100 top rated retail web sites and scores merchants on 80 metrics split into three categories: execution of key pages (25 points), merchandising (43 points) and customer service tactics (32 points). A merchant must score an index of 80 or more to qualify for a Platinum award, Merchants must dedicate significant efforts to attain this score. The 8 Platinum Award winners were seen to have sophisticated key pages, meticulous merchandising, and comprehensive customer service to round out the shopping experience, said President Lauren Freedman.
