In October 2011, Chester was a stray dog picked up by a Dearborn, Michigan, police officer and brought to the Dearborn Animal Shelter. Full of fleas and with advanced stages of mange, Chester was in bad shape. But after weeks in isolation receiving great medical care, Chester became the star of the show at last year’s Black Tie & Tails event. Adopted by a local doctor, Chester quickly went from a rescue dog to Oakwood Hospital’s very first therapy dog.
