We’ve posted before about Raleigh, North Carolina-based photographer Shannon Johnstone—who photographs one dog a week from the Wake County Animal Center—and there was a great profile of her work in yesterday’s News & Observer. The story shows that Johnstone is committed to rescuing dogs. As an art professor, she has even sent her students into shelters to photograph animals, and she has photographed dogs during and after euthanasia.

What her photos reveal are animals full of personality and life, who would make great pets for the right owners.
She hopes that people will see these photographs and respond both emotionally and with action—by heading down to the shelter to adopt.
