We received these great pictures and a note from Nicole Schofer, of the Last Chance Animal Rescue in Waldorf, Maryland. She describes a very special dog who is looking for a forever home after a lifetime of mistreatment:

We have a special four-legged angel available for adoption. Shelley is a two-year-old bulldog mix who’s had a rough go of it. She has been shot at, bred too many times, used as a bait dog, and hit by a car—all of which has left her hind legs paralyzed. Despite all this horrific abuse, she has maintained a sweet and gentle disposition, and has become a favorite with the entire Last Chance staff.

The Pets with Disabilities organization has hooked Shelley up with a set of wheels that she thoroughly enjoys, but lifting her into and out of this wheelchair leads to occasional bladder accidents. Last Chance contacted Orvis about donating a water-resistant bed for her use. Here she is, lounging comfortably on her new Orvis Watershed Classic Bed. She’s even gracious enough to share it with her foster “sister”!

If you have room in your home and your heart for Shelley, please contact Last Chance Animal Rescue at savinglives@lastchanceanimalrescue.org, with the subject line “Shelley.” To follow her story check out the rescue’s Facebook page.

Despite her past, Shelley is loving and sweet, even sharing her new dog bed.
