The “Horrible Hundred” List of U.S. Puppy Mills Released

Written by: Phil Monahan

Last week The Humane Society of the United States, as part of its seventh annual Puppy Mill Action Week, released “A Horrible Hundred,” which lists some of the worst puppy mills in the nation. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it is meant to shine a light on the problem and is part of a plan to urge state legislatures to do more to protect dogs and shut down these operations.

There are lots of issues on which we don’t agree with HSUS, but this is not one of them. Puppy mills are cruel, produce many dogs with health problems, and give legitimate dog breeders a bad name. I am proud to say that there are no Vermont breeders listed in “A Horrible 100.”

  1. Don't Buy Designer Dogs

Hello, I apologize if this is a double post as I was having some problem with the site and my internet connection. I am the creator of a new website called “Boycott Designer Dogs.” I would like to network with other website owners and bloggers who are involved in the animal advocacy arena to see if we can work together to implement some creative online activism strategies. I am really excited to discuss some of my ideas via email and to work with you and others to help educate the public, raise awareness and ultimately decrease the popularity of this designer dog trend. I have included a link to one of the pages on my site and would appreciate you getting in touch with me if you are interested in this at all. Thank you so much.
