When the trailer for Gaula—River of Silver and Gold was released about a year ago, people were blown away by its sophisticated cinematography and gorgeous images. It is fly-fishing film about the pursuit of the elusive Atlantic salmon. Yet, it is much more than that. It is also a documentary on one of the last wild salmon rivers in Europe: Norway’s River Gaula. The main character of the film isn’t the angler; it’s the wild river and its fish, where salmon migrate upstream to reproduce like they have for millennia.

The filmmakers, Anton Hamacher and Daniel Goz, have announced the U.S. theatrical premier of the finished movie will be held at the Bend Film Festival in Oregon next month. The film will be shown at The Oxford Hotel in Bend on Friday, October 12, and there will be a second showing the next day at the Tower Theatre.
