Video: Catching “That Fish”

Written by: Phil Monahan

This video is short and sweet, clocking in at under a minute. But it really captures the joy of landing an unexpectedly large trout. Here’s what the video director, Aileen Frey, had to say about it:

Laptop and notes were put aside for a bit to take a study break in the Owyhee River. The water level had been dropped during the second week of September. You could clearly see the fish, and they could see you. Some were holding in place, waiting for food to drift directly to them. Fair kept casting to “that fish” and finally caught it. That fish took her for a walk, while we ran to get the camera. It was the best catch of our day. Pretty sure that it went directly back to its favorite spot after leaving the net. It’ll be there next time we go.

She does not explain the choice of the Electric Light Orchestra as a soundtrack. . . .
