Since you can save 20% on fly-tying materials all month long, we decided to celebrate with a contest that asks you to put all materials to use. Think you’ve come up with a new, killer fly that will be a game-changer this year? Or perhaps you can tie what you think is the best version of a classic pattern, such as a Black Ghost or a Royal Wulff. Either way, submit a photo of your fly—tied by you, of course—and you could win one a new Renzetti Traveler Vise or a signed copy of Tom Rosenbauer’s The Orvis Fly-Tying Guide.

The Renzetti Traveler 2000 vise features positive rotary action and easy-to-use screw adjustments.

Your first step is to tie and photograph your fly. Obviously, the better the photograph, the better your chance of winning because the judges will be able to see all the details. Next, there are two ways to enter your photo in the contest:

1. Use the widget below, or
2. Post your photo on Instagram with the hashtag #orvisflytying

So let’s see what you’ve got. Perhaps to get warmed up, you should watch a few of the great videos from Tightline Productions.

Might want to think about resizing a few of the pics under browse entries, they’re pretty huge at least on my computer anyways. Good stuff though, its always interesting to see other peoples ties.

It IS nice to see other guys flies. I love the stonefly nymphs shown, however, being a sailor I realllly like the … fly that looks like its headlights are on, I guess you could say it is a egg pattern.

I was just wondering if I put my pattern in to late? and if it did get in on time I don’t see it.. it was pretty big though because I thought the picture was to show detail.. whatever.. still exciting.. thanks..

Uploaded a fly last week that didn’t make it to the slideshow so I uploaded it again. Several days and still didn’t see it. Uploaded several more times…is it my system or is there a wait time for moderation? Sorry for all the fly uploads if there is!!

About how long is the lag time for moderation? I posted a pic this am and still do not see it.

Is there a way to be sure that my pic was uploaded without seeing it on the slide show?

Wow!!! Kathleen you have put a lot of work into this project. Obviously there have been a few bumps in the road. Thank you for sticking with it and bringing such enjoyment to us all. Every step you took during this process resulted in an improvement. Great job, and remember, next year will be much easier.
