Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 05.03.13

Written by: Phil Monahan

Welcome to a delayed edition of the OrvisNews.com Friday Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing footage available. This week’s collection has a seriously European feel, featuring entries from France, Norway, Germany, and Slovenia. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future FFF, please post it in the comments below. And don’t forget to check in regularly at The Tug, the Orvis online video theatre. See you next week with a fresh set of films!

French Touch from Bearnishfly on Vimeo.

What goes better together than French fly fishing, Loretta Lynn, and Jack White? Not much.

Frog of Fire from Jazz & Fly Fishing on Vimeo.

Meanwhile, our old friend HÃ¥vard, from Jazz & Fly Fishing, explores a wilderness river on Nordkalotten, or “Cap of the North.”

Joe Hawg from LC Journal (Doug Roland) on Vimeo.

Redfish in the grass and some filthy blues guitar add up to South Carolina goodness.

Brothers On The Fly – “It’s Still Water…” from BorinskiMedia on Vimeo.

Our favorite brothers auf Deutschland enjoy opening day of stillwater-trout season.

Eastern Sierras 2013 from CPU on Vimeo.

A pair of anglers chase browns and rainbows in the Eastern Sierras and land some beauties.

Fly Fishing Sample Video from Steve Hall on Vimeo.

This is a great grab bag of saltwater footage from southwestern Florida.

Fly Fishing 2013 from Serge Kamyanskiy on Vimeo.

According to his vimeo profile, this filmmaker does mostly weddings in South Carolina, but he shoots a dreamy fly-fishing video, too.

One from Catch 1 Films on Vimeo.

Here’s a sweet little edit from The Bahamas that captures the essence of bonefishing.

Brass from Pacific Extremes on Vimeo.

Ken Hanley’s take on California carp fishing has a distinctly urban feel.

Deschutes River Spring Float from Fly and Field Outfitters on Vimeo.

A springtime float from Trout Creek to Maupin on the Deschutes looks like a great time.

The clarity of the water in these videos from Slovenia always blows me away. Some great fish here, too.

TheLastCast – STOP PEBBLE MINE from The Fly Fishing Film Tour on Vimeo.

We finish up with a great short documentary about the sport-fishing angle of the fight against Pebble Mine. Don’t forget to make your voice heard on the EPA’s latest draft assessment. As the woman in the video says, “It’s go time.” Have a great weekend!
