Hopper season is upon us here in Idaho/Oregon, and it seems that the fish have a personal vendetta against these terrestrials. They were hitting these bugs with such force and aggression that I had to change my fly multiple times because they were rendered unrecognizable. Through the course of they day, I had several nice fish shake the hopper out of their mouths, so it seemed like it was going to be one of those days. But eventually, I spotted a big guy poking his head out downstream, rhythmically sipping. I let my last hopper float float in his direction, and he let his feelings get the best of him.
