Orvis is the oldest continuously operated catalog company in the US
The Orvis Company has been the premier outfitter of the distinctive country lifestyle and sporting traditions since 1856. Orvis Company's corporate home is located in rural Sunderland, Vermont, near a 377-acre natural black bear habitat. Our flagship store is located in nearby Manchester, Vermont, the site of Charles Orvis' very first fly rod shop in 1856. When the hallway of our corporate offices features a framed picture of the company president at 9 years old holding a big Nile perch you know you're at a business owned by a family that's serious about fishing.
Our core values guide us every day.
All of our Associates are aware of Orvis Company Core Values, which are an essential part of our identity and which color our future success. Our company's Core Values are:
· The Customer is Always Right - Customer service is our first order of business. We satisfy customers by their standards.
· Pride of Ownership - We do not sell what we, ourselves, would not be proud to own.
· Integrity and Mutual Respect - We "do what's right" even when it may not be expedient. We take responsibility for our actions, and when we make a mistake, we own up to it and make it right.
· Performance - We are committed to collective performance, and we respect individual achievement.
· Conservation and Our Sporting Traditions - If we are to benefit from the use of our natural resources, we must be willing to act to preserve them.
Our conservation efforts say a lot about our commitment.
The C.F. Orvis Company began as a fly fishing company. Today we are more committed than ever to the sporting traditions and natural environment. Orvis donates 5% of pre-tax profits annually to organizations that protect fish and wildlife habitat. Over the last ten years, we've donated nearly $10 million to such organizations, including Trout Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, Coastal Conservation Association, Ducks Unlimited, The Conservation Fund, Ruffed Grouse Society, and The Atlantic Salmon Fund.
