I received from a friend awhile back an Orvis Battenkill 8.5' 9wt older Bambo Fly Rod, in excellent condition. In order to honor that rod and my friend I purchased the Battenkill IV Reel to match that Rod and I'm pleased that I did, it is a Very Nice Reel. I will now use that set-up for slinging big bugs at Large Mouth Bass.

Super lightweight
I bought a BKII a few years ago and LOVE it. I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I love it because I get flawless drag when it's needed, compact size, and very lightweight- which was my main reason for purchasing. The DT 3WT line that was spooled on it has worked well.

Amazing reel...but the colour?
I bought this reel thinking it would be gun metal grey like the picture on the website but when I got the reel it was grey/purple. The reel is for my Scott Japan Special, which is gun-metal grey and it looks terrible with the reel seated (the colouring makes it look like a cheap Zebco). Function should outweigh form and I can say that this reel functions amazingly, by far the best click-drag reels I have owned. But it is a shame that the anodizing (?) makes it look cheap (imho).

Excellent Reel.
I purchased this reel about a month ago and cannot wait to get it out on the water. I have a two I purchased for my 5 weights and cannot wait to see how this reel performs. I rated at a 4 because I have not been able to get out and use the reel yet.

Great match with 4wt rod!
Using with 4wt rod. Very light and balances well with the light weight rod.
No need for drag.

Cool reel
Love this reel. Loaded it with 3 WT line. Thinking I may need a couple more for 4 WT and 5 WT. the clicking sound is way cool.

Classic look and feel
Ordered the Battenkill III for my 4 wt DT Hydros line. The III is a slight bit larger than the II and a DT line fits much better. Great reel with a classic look and very affordable!
