Orvis women's clothes are cut to accommodate the active lifestyle. In addition, we build plenty of “wearing ease” in all our garments to ensure you will enjoy them for many years. We take into consideration how the clothing will be worn. For example, when we fit women's outerwear, we always size it with the appropriate layers beneath. That means you do not need to order a size up for a comfortable fit.

Women's Petite Clothing Sizes: We offer many of our Women’s styles in Petite lengths. Your height will determine which length you choose (5'4" and under). For the Petite pants customer, we have reduced the rise measurement and inseam. In tops, dresses and jackets, the sleeve length and body length have been reduced. For all styles, the body widths have been reduced slightly.

Our skirts are measured from the top of the waistband.

Find your hat size easily!

Using a cloth measuring tape, measure around your head at the point at which your hat normally rides (approximately 1” above your ear). If your measurement is between two hat sizes, order the larger size.

Your hat should fit securely, but not tightly—if you shake your head back and forth vigorously, the hat should stay put. The same goes for bending forward: if you bend down, your hat shouldn’t slip off. Make sure, though, that your hat doesn’t bind or pinch. If it does, we recommend you exchange it for the next larger size.

Tees

Our updated tees come in two fits. Classic Fit tees feature our traditional, slightly relaxed fit. Modern Fit tees are gently shaped for a more contemporary fit.

Pants

Our pants come in three fits.

• Modern Fit Pants: A bit more contemporary fit, styled to sit just below the waist.
• Classic Fit Pants: Our traditional fit, designed to sit right at or slightly above the waist.
• Easy-Fitting Pants: Our most comfortable and relaxed fit with a full elastic waist.

In all instances, hold tape firm and level, but not tight.

a. Hat Sizes: Using a flexible/soft tape measure, start 1" above the ear. Follow around head staying 1" above the ear. This will give your most accurate reading. Then refer to the chart for size.

b. Bust/Chest: Wrap a tape measure evenly around the fullest part under your arms.

c. Waist: Wrap tape around your natural waistline.

d. Seat/Hip: Standing with your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hip (approx. 7-8" below the waist). Don’t forget to keep the tape level.

e. Inseam: Best taken from an existing pair of pants you like. Measure along the garment inseam from the crotch seam to the hem.

f. Glove Hand: Measure all the way around the flat part of your hand, excluding the thumb, and around the widest part at the knuckles. Use the chart below to convert this measurement in inches to your corresponding glove size.
