Will never step foot into this place again! -
I'm very helpful when I see that someone could use a hand. I offered a hand to help someone lift something. Wayne Thurber did not like that fact that I helped this person that he disapproved of. Wayne proceeded to aggressively state that I have been BANNED from his store and will no longer be able to shop at Dos Dumigos. The funniest part about this, is that I myself, as well as the rest of the surrounding community have not been shopping there for a long time.(since the last owner) A large amount of the fisherman here would rather drive to Taos or Red River than help this business any more. It is very well known in our area that you can expect bad customer service and incorrect info from most that are there. Its not their fault they just have no experience and also learn from watching Wayne curse and disrespect the community and clients. Its well known here and because of the continuing problems more of us are going to speak up to make sure others avoid the problems we have ran into. We are urging the others that have had the horror story guide trips that we have heard about to come forward and share their experience. They have shared their experience all over town and will be sharing it here I'm sure.
Fly Fishing with Dos Amigos -
Absolute standout day of fishing with Dos Amigos! After grabbing a good breakfast from a local restaurant that the owner, Wayne, recommended, I met my guide at the shop at 8AM. My guide for the day, Steve, fitted me with waders, we loaded up in his truck, and then headed for Rio de Los Pinos, near the Colorado/New Mexico border. Steve covered some fundamentals of casting, etc. with me, and then we dropped our hooks in. We almost instantly began catching rainbow trout, and this lasted all day. By lunchtime, we had caught around 35 fish! Dos Amigos provided lunch, a nice array of healthful energy food. We explored different spots on the river, with one area being better than the next. By the end of the day, our conversation would not even be interrupted when fish struck. I'd reel them in, and Steve netted and released them without breaking stride. We had quite the system going! We fished until just after 5 PM, then headed back into town. All in all, we literally caught no less than 75 fish that day. No fish stories here; truly a remarkable day on the river! As a 38-year veteran of fishing in Taos, Steve has a wealth of knowledge and used just the right blend of instruction with me. In addition to his fishing expertise, Steve was a great tour guide, detailing the rich history of the Taos area and offering tips on other things do while in town. More importantly, Steve is a true gentleman and was a real joy to be around. I highly recommend booking a trip with Dos Amigos, and if Steve is available, secure him. You won't be disappointed!
Cimarron Hook Up -
By: jcurnow from Eagle, CO
Fantastic half day with the man himself, Wayne Thurber! Picked me personally at El Monte Sagrado (the place to stay in Taos) and took me to some great water on the Cimarron. Wayne super personable and helped me get back into the casting groove and hooked me up on numerous rainbows and browns. Thanks Wayne!
Great results -
We fished both private water and public with Scott as our guide. He was very entertaining and informative. Consistently push us on fish both days. Very impressed with Scott, he had multiple rods rigged up with a variety of flies so we could switch between options as the fish changed their tastes!!!
A great big wow! -

I live in south Louisiana and have never fly fished for real. Wayne and Scott provided first class equipment, good lunch, great instruction, and lots of patience. They helped us enjoy the whole experience by pointing out wildlife and acting as a tour guide as well as a fishing guide. The "big one" got away so I have to go back. And it will be with Dos Amigos!!

Doug and Dan fished with Wayne and Scott on the UUBar Ranch June 20, 2015. High altitude lake fishing offers many challenges; wind, rain, heat, and cold. We faced them all and had a great day. We landed 16-22" fish on all three lakes. Scott and Wayne helped us polish our technique and kept us fed and hydrated. One more off the bucket list thanks to Dos Amigos.
Excellent Service -

I operate a wounded veteran/child rehabilitation program and we have been using Dos Amigos for 3 years now. Aside from his generosity and support of our military, Wayne has consistently delivered exceptional service and support to our foundation and the families we host. I will always recommend Wayne and his team of guides to anyone wanting to fly fish northern New Mexico.
Excellent Guide(s), Service & Equipment -

Guides are outstanding providing Orvis rod / reel combos and everything else you could possibly require. There were 2 of us fishing and the guides had 3 rigs for each of us with different setups. They had more rigs in the truck all different sizes and weights if they were needed. Fast and efficient service with no downtime. Most importantly, they put us on 20" rainbows. The fly shop is well stocked and the personnel are well informed and attentive.
