This is the best rod I have ever fished with and Orvis's customer service sets the bar so high I can't imagine buying my fishing gear anywhere else. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Well done Orvis.

Perfection
Lightweight, accurate, tons of backbone. This 9ft 5wt is sp light I often flick cast at short ranges. Ive only taken this rod trout fishing once and landed an 8 inch rainbow, and to my amazement it bent the rod and was enjoyable. I usually take this rod carp fishing. I've landed tons of carp up to 12 pounds. It has enough backbone to handle larger fish but also make the small ones fun. This rod is my workhorse and I wouldn't rather have anything else.

Top of the line!!
I was looking for a 4pc. 5wt. tip flex fly rod and did I hit it right with this purchase. Of all the rods I own this tops them all. I've used it for a year now but wanted to wait before giving it a review. Great rod you can't go wrong with this one.

almost not fair
Accuracy, feel, great-looking hardware and finish. WF5F Hydros 3-D line and UK-made CFO reel (the limited-edition reproduction). I have the luxury of being able to cast a lot of different rods, and the H2 is most certainly the best technical stick for putting a fly where you want it, and to safely and efficiently bring a fish to hand. When I share it with other casters/fishermen the temptation seems to be, since it is such a "fast" rod, to speed up their cast. When I convince them to slow down and smooth out their cast, they are inevitably rewarded and amazed. Bought the 4-wt tip flex, too, after fishing the 5-wt for awhile, and am pretty sure I will be picking up the 8-wt this spring to fill out the armory.

Not impressed with my tip flex
I'm really having trouble with my tip flex,I just can't cast it like my mid flex rods, I've only fished with it 4 times,I'm going to ask orvis to exchange it for a midflex, can someone give me there opinion on what I should do?

Fantastic Rod, even better customer service
Got a chance to put my H2 9' 5wt tip-flex (w Orvis Hydros 3D line) through the paces yesterday. Fantastic rod. Threw some drys, dry-droppers, and a weighted nymph setup with ease and accuracy. Handled 3 20"+ rainbows with ease. Great feel, fantastic and light to cast, and confident handling bringing the fish to net. Great customer service to match.

Second H2
Purchased an 9' TF 5wt for my wife to replace an older mid flex for nymph and streamer use. Turns out it is great for big drys and hooper/dropper so it is a great all-round rod if you want to travel light. She raved about it so much I had to get one too! Have not fished my new H2 yet, but used hers on a trip to MT and ID and loved it. Regarding durability, do not know yet, too soon.
