Best Fishing Hat Out There - 8/1/2012
    By: from Northridge, CA

Great hat! This is actually my second copy of the Lochsa River Straw Hat. While the first one is still in pretty good shape after 5 yrs of use, I wanted to have another one 'ready for action'. Two of the guides I've fished with in Dillon, MT wear the same hat, and I always get positive comments from other anglers I encounter. The best things about the hat are: it really shades your face and neck; it's waterproof; it stays on in the wind (using the chin cord); it's good looking; and, it floats! What more could you ask for?

    Never without shade. - 7/10/2012

I was looking for relief from the sun during my weekly fishing trips. This hat is perfect, comfortable, adjustable, wide brim, and a safety strap for the quick dashes between fishing holes. And not bad looking to top it all off.

    Tibet to Patagonia - 11/1/2011
    By: from California

I have worn this hat on hikes from Tibet to Patagonia. Great Hat for sun protection, keeping the rain off your head. It will pack flat in a suit case and with a shake come back to it's shape. one down side in winds it will blow off so you need to use chin strap. Also if winds are coming from behind you use chin strap & tuck staps behind ears to keep from blowing off forward. GREAT HAT !!!!!

the fit adjusting strap works great! stays on even in a wind and if it does blow off, chin strap saves it from going in the drink. Wire rim on outside of brim makes it shapeable. Cool on hot days and plenty of sun protection. And it's got a little attitude which all hats should have.

    River hat - 9/5/2011
    By:

This is a very useful hat. Glad it floats, it got away from me on the little samon river in OR when I finally caught up with it, it had loged under a rock. I picked it up, shook it off and went on fishing. Thanks Orvis.

    Beautiful hat - 8/26/2011
    By: from New Mexico

Overall this hat is very well made and functional as well as good to look at. The fit is not the greatest but can adjusted with a little help to fit more snug. The crown is a little shallow so the bottom of the crown sits right on top of your head which isn't the most comfortable. I wear a 7 1/2 and got the large/x large and it's a little big. Overall though I really like the hat.

    Good buy - 7/27/2011

Although a little stiff and cowboy looking at first, I bought one for my husband a few years ago and it loosens its shape. His does not look quite like a cowboy hat anymore, but still has held up and is great at keeping the sun off.

    Sizing problem - 7/27/2011
    By: from Pittsburgh, PA

Nice hat well made but sizing is a problem. I ordered the biggest size offered and it doesn't fit my 7 3/4 head. Need to display hat size in numbers not S, M, L, XL. Too bad as I liked the hat.

I've been wanting this hat for some time but did not want to pay full price for it. I purchased it on sale and it was well worth the sale price. I really like the look and 4-1/2" brim. Several people commented on its' good looks too. I'm sure I will enjoy wearing it for many years to come because it is made so well.
