Come fish with us and learn how to pursue the Northwest's most iconic fish at Morrison's Lodge on Oregon's beautiful Rogue River. Hone your skills with single-handed or two-handed fly rods in pursuit of Pacific steelhead. These remarkable fish are known for blistering runs, unbelievable leaps, and a never-quit attitude. Steelheads have captured the devotion of many anglers worldwide and fishing for them has been described as a passion. In this all-inclusive three-day school, you will become well versed in the proper techniques used to target steelhead and other anadromous fish like salmon. If learning how to use two-handed rods or perfecting your single handed casting skills while chasing wily and strong steelhead piques your interest, look no further.

Join Orvis casting instructor Peter Kutzer and learn both single handed and two handed techniques to pursue one of the most prized catches in the fly-fishing world. Using Orvis's progressive method to teaching fly casting you will learn the skills needed for pursuing steelhead in any situation. Pete has taught thousands of people how to cast with an emphasis on making the cast easy. With the great guides and Instructors at Morrison's, and the beauty of the Rogue River right out your lodge door, you will be on the fast track to becoming a steelhead angler.

Morrison's Rogue River Lodge is located 16 miles downstream from Grants Pass along the banks of the famed Rogue River. Built as a fishing lodge in 1946, Morrison's is situated in the middle of one of the most consistent and reliable steelhead fisheries in the Northwest. Beautiful accommodations, Morrison's legendary fine dining, and the wonderful staff await your visit and ensure a memorable experience. The authentic log lodge and individual cottages, half hidden by groves of evergreen, maple, and oak attract not only fishermen, but also river rafters, gold panners, rock hounds, swimmers, and those who take pleasure in being immersed in the sights and sounds of the wilderness.

Day One: September 22
Time Activity & Description
8:00 a.m. Breakfast
9:00 a.m. Learn how to cast a single and double handed rod, pick up and lay down line, and roll cast
10:00 a.m. Discussion on lines, rods, reels, and basic equipment for steelhead
10:45 a.m. Perfecting your cast, videotape students casting
12:00 p.m. Lunch
1:00 p.m. Discussion on reading water, choosing flies
2:00 p.m. Video analysis of student casting
4:00 p.m. Step three in the casting progression - shooting & mending line. Students fishing
5:00 p.m. End of first day
6:00 p.m. Dinner

    Wonderful time at Morrisons Lodge - 2/7/2014

    My wife and I took a trip from Portland Or to San Fransico last summer . We stopped off at Morrisons Lodge.and ended up staying a few extra days we had such a good time. The lodge is nice and freindly food was great. We went horseback riding and whitewater rafting. I fished every morning We loved it!! I know we will be back again. Thanks Morrison"s Freinds from. St Croix US Virgin Islands
