Region/ Terrain Where you Fish

The Everglades is a magical place and one for the adventurous angler. As you drive through the entrance of Everglades National Park, you truly step off the grid of your everyday life. Not only will you see a tremendous amount of wildlife on any given day, but the fishing is among the best saltwater fly fishing in the world.

The Everglades is a true world class fishery and is the place to practice the art of saltwater fly fishing. You can fish and explore these waters for a lifetime and still make new and surprising discoveries every time you go out. What makes fishing the Everglades so special, is the diversity of the fishery. Whether casting a fly to rolling tarpon or stalking the flats for redfish and snook, it can be done year round in the Glades. There is no other place on the planet where you have a chance to catch Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, Trout, Snapper, Grouper, Tripletail, Black Drum, and Black Bass all in relatively the same area.

Typical Weather by Season

South Florida's weather would be considered sub-tropical. It can be warm all year round depending on the cold fronts during our winter months which are December-early March. The spring months usually brings alot of sunshine but also alot of wind. Our summer months are hot and you can expect some afternoon showers. That's why in the summer months it is important to get out on the water early. The fall can also be warm but the humidity is low. The best part about fishing the Everglades is it can be done all year long.

What is Provided to Customer

We have fly rods ranging from 7- to 12-weights as well as all leader material and flies. We also provide lunch for our customers as well as bottled water. We supply sunscreen, bug spray, and basic toiletries.

Itinerary

Sample of Typical Trip

I touch base with my anglers a day or two before our scheduled fishing date. We will set a meeting place in Florida City, which is just outside of Everglades National Park. Then it is a 38 mile drive through the park down to Flamingo. During the spring and summer months some of the best fishing is minutes from the boat ramp. During the fall and winter months we may make longer boat runs depending on the weather. A lot of the areas we fish you rarely see another boat all day which means less fishing pressure.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can fish on your skiff?
Since majority of the time I pole the skiff and sneak up on fish, one angler can fish at a time. I can hold two anglers on the skiff for each trip. Time will be shared fishing if their are 2 anglers.

How far should I be able to cast to catch fish?
Anywhere from 30-60 feet with one or two false casts. There are plenty times where we catch fish at a shorter distances than that. I strongly suggest working on accuracy rather than distance.

Whats the best time to fish in the Everglades?
The Everglades can be great year round, it just depends on the weather and what you want to fish for. The weather in our winter months can be very unpredictable, whereas the spring and summer months can be a little bit more predictable.
