River Through Atlanta Guides, GA

Overview

In business since 1994, River Through Atlanta Guide Service offers guided drift boat and wade excursions for brown and rainbow trout through 48 miles of designated trout water with 10,000 linear acres of National Park lands. Flora and fauna abound, with sighting of bald eagles, great blue herons, white-tailed deer, mink, otters, and much more. The waters we fish show documented natural reproduction of brown and rainbow trout, and offer seasonal angling opportunities for shoal and striped bass, as well as carp, during summer and fall on the lower reaches of the river. Our latitude makes for both a mild summer and winter with year-round fishing opportunities.

Date Range

We fly fish year-round and there is no closed fishing season on the Chattahoochee.

What is Provided to Customer

Region/Terrain Where You Fish

The Chattahoochee is a classic southern tailwater trout fishery, with 48 miles of designated trout waters and trophy regulations. The annual average water temperature from Buford Dam is 55 degrees. Many people do not realize Buford Dam is 1,071 feet above sea level, with over 125 feet of relief in the stream bed for 48 river miles, mixed with shoals and gravel bars with average depths of 5 feet. The minimum flow is 1,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) and maximum flow is 10,000 cfs; the average streambed width is 150 feet. The river offers prolific mayfly, caddis, and stonefly hatches.
