The Guide Sling Pack levels the playing field - you against that wily fish hiding on the far bank. Sling style allows the angler to wear it over one shoulder, completely out of the way, while allowing quick and easy access to gear. Large capacity means a home for all your gear-fly boxes, rain jackets, lunch. We've upgraded the shoulder strap with a cushy, foam-padded, streamlined design for all-day comfort. A bright interior allows you to easily spot stray flies, while the ventilated, molded back panel keeps your body cool and your mind on the fish. Forcep sheath on the shoulder strap features a magnetic anchor for easy access and securing. Unique zinger and tool attachment system allows easy integration of your favorite tool into the pack, providing quick and easy access to the tool while minimizing the chance catching. Strategically-placed water bottle holder can be accessed without turning the pack around. Cord loops allow the addition of a tippet bar. Fly drying patch on the top of the bag. Internal pockets and dividers help organize your gear; internal Velcro strip allows for the addition of a waterproof pocket (8G3H) to protect electronics. Sternum straps prevent excess movement of the pack while fishing or hiking. Burly 410-denier nylon boasts a coating along the bottom of the pack for increased water resistance. Perfect Sling Pack
I had been looking at sling packs for several months and had just about given up. They were either too big, not organized enough, I did not like the looks, or just did not really fit well. I looked at all the major companies. Don't know why I did not start with Orvis. I purchased the olive large sling and its perfect. It has so many compartments to keep your fly boxes secure, no matter what size they are. It has enough room for extras and I really like the hemostat pocket on the strap, right where it should be. I purchased it through the catalog with out trying it on, and was very pleased. I do not think anyone would be disappointed in this sling pack.

Tons of storage, easy access, and looks great.
You can haul a huge amount of stuff in this thing and access it really easy. Main improvement in my eyes would be some sort of water resistance. Other than that a GREAT pack.

Stay organized!
I've used the sling pack for several months. It's very easy to access gear and has enough compartments to organize all my various pieces of gear. Enough extra room for lunch and a camera. I'd highly recommend the clear waterproof case and tippet bar accessories.. great combo!

Great for day trips!
Bought for traveling. Great set up for access to contents. Can swing it around to front when sitting or for security. I also use wire leaders to help secure zippers when traveling abroad. Keep weight below 10 or so pounds for maximum feel and comfort. I have never used for fishing, but great design for walking without binding shoulders, or the one shoulder awkwardness of a traditional backpack!

Great pack for a day trip or even longer
Great pack for those day trips where you want to bring your gear plus some snacks and maybe a thermos and some light rain gear. Holds a lot and is super comfortable.

Not just for fishing!
I bought this on a whim in the flagship store because I just really liked the way it looked. I'm a mother to 2 young children, and we often do little day trips. Had a chance to test this out this weekend on one such day trip, and it was PERFECT. Really comfortable fit, super easy access to my wallet, to juice boxes, the kids' fleeces, and lots of room to stash a few purchases made throughout the day. I have never worn a sling-style bag before (usually makes me feel awkward, and I'm constantly adjusting it). I'm a convert now - no need to adjust; again, it's a very secure and comfy fit.

Very useful
Bought this for day trips down river so I could carry enough food and gear so as to not need to make a trip back to camp in the middle of the day. It works very well.
Good pocket organization and nice little appointments; leader holder, water bottle holder, fly patch attachment, and covered retractable zinger cord, Good strap across the back for longer hikes. Excellent zippers in the right places for easy reach and use. Very comfortable shoulder strap and padded back. Can wear it all day with ease.
Very useful pack.
