Excellent Shimano Sedona Reel - 8/27/2013

This is an excellent ultra light spin fishing reel that incorporates many of Shimano’s top-of-the-line features at an affordable price. I purchased this reel as part of the outfit paired with the great Shimano Sojourn 5’6” UL spin rod. I have been away from spin fishing for 15 years and find the quality and casting performance of this reel simply amazing when compared to older gear of my youth. Through a summer of hard use, I have not experienced any “bird nests” or line twists common to lesser quality reels. For the outfit, Orvis spools the reel with 4lb test mono; I recommend not spooling the reel below 2lb because of the reel’s two-piece bail and bail head design. Kudos Orvis for offering these reels.

      Best spin reel - 1/28/2013

This is the best spin reel I've seen for a reasonable price. I own both the 1000FD and 2500FD and wouldn't give them up for any other spin reel. These are great for chasing smallmouth and browns on my local rivers. After 2 years of heavy use I've yet to have a problem. Glad you picked up this excellent product Orvis.
