We start by handselecting the rarest merino shearling hides available—the very best shearling in the world. Our American craftsmen then painstakingly construct a coat so handsome, comfortable, and warm, he’ll welcome winter every year. Oiled calfskin trim, a heavy, cut-brass zipper, and water-buffalo-horn buttons complete this exceptional coat.
Hand-built in our Manchester, Vermont shop, the 1856 is a direct descendent of the first Orvis rods built before the Civil War. The rod flexes in the exact spot where a bamboo rod should—and casts beautifully. The cork is of stunning quality, and the wood spacer brings to mind inlay used in the finest furniture. Hand-milled and hollow-fluted, line control is superb, and in our opinion, nothing gives you fly-imitation control like bamboo.
Crafted in the blustery countryside of Normandy since 1927, Le Chameau boots have proved their worth in hard-working professions as diverse as oysterman, field hand, and horse trainer. The tradition of outstanding ruggedness continues to this day. Each pair is lined with fine, buffed nubuck leather that’s waterproofed in the tanning process. Dipped in successive coats of the highest quality natural rubber, long-wearing durability and imperviousness to water is guaranteed.
Designed and manufactured in partnership with the renowned gun-maker Chapuis Armes of St.-Étienne, France, this new classic side-by-side must be held to fully appreciate its beauty. Whether it’s the feel in the hand, the superior balance, the reduced weight, or its simple, graceful design, this is more than a gun—it’s a field companion for life. Rounded action, scroll engraving, and a gorgeous walnut stock with hand-rubbed oil finish, seal the partnership.
Master craftsman A.L. Swanson creates these one-of-a-kind rod tubes in his workshop in Montana. Sustainably harvested hardwood is carefully chosen for color and grain highlights and then shaped into a perfect cylinder, reducing size and weight, and bringing the wood to life. The head cap is made of three layers of hardwoods and inlaid with our signature fly. It is all held in place with hand-made leather straps, hand-fashioned by a Montana chaps maker. Every time they pick it up, they’ll think of you.
