It's a great product. This tool helps keep your Hackel pliers out of the way while you attach other materials to your hook. The only complaint I had was I had to reamout the paint in the center hole befoe I could attach it to my vise.

This really helps with the small flat that are really delicate and tough to handle, mainly the tiny size 20 flys.
good tool that can be further improved -

It is certainly a very good addition to the vise - I found myself using it to hang various things while tying, so I am happy with this. But for rotary vise, it may prevent it from rotating it freely. I ended up bending & twisting permanently to fit to my vise. Also vertical adjustment, if it can be done while keeping it securely attached to the vise, would be ideal. Again this could help avoid rotation problem.

After years of tying parachute wings by hand, finally decided to buy a Gallows Parachute Tool. This tool really takes the effort out of tying parachute wings. Takes a little bit of getting used to having it close to the 360' rotation handle, but soon got over that. Good tool.
Have a wire coathanger and a spring? -
By: Boinky from Tidewater, Virginia
No rocket science here. Just a piece of bent wire with a vise clamp and a spring hanging on it. Many sizes & styles of hackle pliers fit the spring hook. This is a plus because whichever type you own will need to go on the spring. The arm's length is not universal to any vise. If you use a Renzetti or Regal you're fine. Some of the shorter shanked basic vises like a Thompson, Sunrise, or Tack-L-Tyers are not compatible. Before getting out the pliers and bending the gallows arm, make certain the vise is the more expensive piece of gear. It does the job
Great product but...... -
Disappointed that the product did not come with the hackle pliers that are shown in the picture. Called Orvis and told them to either (a) remove the pliers from photo; or (b) add the pliers and charge a few bucks more. Great product works well, but be prepared to buy a $ 4 pair of hackle pliers unless they change things.
