A must have emerger fly pattern for any trout fisherman.

An essential tail water fly pattern and a killer emerger. But it shouldn't be treated as a traditional emerger. Fish it as a nymph for best results. Present at the holding level of the fish underwater, instead of a traditional emerger presentation. If you are a fly fisherman interested in tying your own RS 2 flies, see our fly pattern recipe below.

    another BWO imitator - 3/4/2014
By: from somewhere on the South Holston River

I got this as a BWO imitation. I fished it without luck on the South Holston. These fish were rising to unseen bugs some distance away, I tried a BWO dry fly before this one. I thought the fish might be hitting emergers in the surface film, but I could not get them to bite. I did catch fish on #18 soft hackles and #16 prince nymphs in that same spot?

    RS2 For Brookies - 2/27/2014
    By: from Madison, MS

I fish a lot in the Smokey Mountains for native Brook Trout and this has become one of my go too flies. Can't beat this one. Tying quality on these is awesome. Each one is good to go for a full days fishing. Highly recommend the Orvis flies! Thanks!

A well tied fly. The RS2 isn't a difficult fly to tie but nonetheless Orvis' are top notch. It's one of my go to flies when nothing else may be working. Caught a nice 19" rainbow with it on the Wautauga River recently with it.
