Favorite jacket -
By: Juliaf from Chicago
Perfect jacket for Chicago's cooler weather days. Stylish, flattering, practical (lots of pockets, including inside). Excellent craftsmanship through and through. Tailored looking but roomy fitting. I get lots of compliments on it, too. Ran a little big for me; went one size smaller.

I really like this jacket. It's good and sturdy and is really cute. My only complaint is that the sleeves are a little bit short.
Sweetest Jacket!! -

A friend had recommended both Barbour as well as Orvis and I am grateful for that. The shipping was fast, the jacket is amazing, and I couldn't be happier to sport this new jacket! I am moving to Switzerland and wanted a warm stylish coat- this works!
Love this jacket! -
I was torn between ordering this jacket and the classic Barbour. I love both, but I am so glad I went with the International. I get so many compliments on it because it looks different from the classic woman's Barbour. It is versatile enough to wear on the weekends, to work and out at night. It looks classic, but has a more feminine look with the belt and the gold buttons. Great fit as well!

Not only do I love the waxed finish, but the style brings positive compliments everywhere I go wearing this jacket.
Great Jacket!!! -

I received with jacket as a birthday present and I love it. It is very attractive on. I have a larger chest and shoulder area, but this jacket is roomy and allows for movement. The only thing I would change is that it does not have the hand warming pockets like other Barbour’s.
Great Travel Piece -
I bought this piece as a weather resistant, mid-weight, durable low key, fun jacket for travel. I love the pockets which easily fit wallet, phone and travel docs. Size 4 was too small, although usually I'm a 4 or 6 and am petite at 5'1", 114 pounds. I couldn't wear a sweater under the 4 as the shoulders were snug but the sleeve length was perfect. The 6 arrived in time for my trip, is roomier in the shoulders which is better for this type of jacket to wear layers under. The size 6 sleeves are too long for my petite frame, but I'm able to cuff the sleeve which shows the fun plaid design inside out. A petite 6 would have been perfect (which isn't an option) but the style of this is casual so it looks fine and it will be a life long companion with the classic styling. The shorter length is GREAT for my petite frame. I LOVE IT!
Barbour Ladies International -

Although I find Barbour to run small, the sizing on this jacket was right on. I am a size 6 and the Barbour 6 fit with a little room to spare as the jacket is a roomier fit. Of course well made and looks great. My only wish is that the jacket would accomodate a zin in liner.

Since 1894, England's J. Barbour & Sons have produced clothes perfectly suited to life in the country. Their quality, durable clothing is cut for an active lifestyle and the fit varies according to each garment's design and purpose.
The sizing of Barbour’s clothing is divided into four classifications:
In the case of Barbour outerwear, sizing takes into account the appropriate layers beneath. That means you do not need to order a size up for a comfortable fit.

The beginning of Barbour jackets
In 1894 John Barbour established himself in the burgeoning port of South Shields, supplying oilskins and other garments to protect the growing community of sailors, fishermen, rivermen and dockers from the worst of the North Sea weather.
Within a few years the firm became the leading supplier of oilskins on the north east coast, not only to seafarers but to others in the surrounding country - farmers, labourers, carters, shepherds - who earned their living outdoors in all weathers. By the beginning of the next century Barbour’s durable Beacon oilskins were well known throughout Britain and beyond.
The legendary durability of Barbour jackets
If there’s one feature that distinguishes Barbour jackets more than any other, it is their legendary durability. But, given the quality of materials used—genuine long-staple Egyptian cotton, solid brass studs, substantial metal zips, plus painstaking quality of construction with an average of 15,000 stitches and up to two hundred components—perhaps it’s hardly surprising.
The seams in a Barbour oiled cotton jacket are double rolled, each stitched through two thicknesses of fabric. It is an intricate part of the manufacture and it ensures that the seams are completely waterproof. Even the thread is treated with the same secret watertight proofing formula as the fabric itself.
How long a Barbour jacket will last very much depends on its use (or rather abuse in many cases). Undoubtedly, owners expect much more of a Barbour than any other garment because Barbour enables them to do more. They will subject themselves and their jackets to the severest conditions of weather, mud, animal contact and abrasion than they could ever contemplate if wearing anything less robust.
For more than a quarter century, Orvis has teamed up with Barbour of England. Since 1894, J. Barbour & Sons have produced clothes perfectly suited to enjoyment of life beyond the city. It is this commitment to quality and durability that has seen the name Barbour become synonymous with the best of country living.
