I always have issues with my CDC flies not floating for long especially after a trout eats it. Now I wash the fly off in the stream, false cast once or twice then stick it between the Amadou Patch and pinch the patch. You can see the water you get out of the fly. Add your Frogs Fanny or other CDC floatant and almost as good as new. I am probably going to order another patch for a friend.

The perfect gift for a fly fisherman. Well made extremely useful for keeping those favorite flys handy and for drying them safely.
Great little device -

I used my Amadou fly drying patch for the first time this past weekend while fishing the small native brook trout streams in the high mountains of West Virginia. These streams require a fairly technical approach as the they are steep and only a couple feet wide with significant close overhead cover. Additionally, from pool to pool, there are some rapid flows and your fly takes a real beating. Using the Amadou, I could quickly and easily dry my fly between casts to keep the presentation looking natural. A great little addition to my vest accessories which helps me catch more fish.

This soaks up water like crazy! Very quickly returns a waterlogged fly to a floating condition.
Amadou ! Where have you been ? -

My Fly fishing mentors told me about amadou , and I'm so glad it's being marketed again. This little gem from Orvis gently takes much of the moisture out of your fly and without further chemical treatment , gets it back out on the water, where it belongs . Great for CDC dry flies !
Amadou Patch quality very disappointing -
Online purchase of Amadou patch(es). Two-sided patch arrived with 1 side unusable due to poor selection of fungus, ie. 1/16 inch thick and not soft. Section was rough, the last surface I would want to lay my delicate dry fly on. Also, would not absorb water. Returned item to Orvis store and manager agreed. Ordered second Amadou patch, and second patch was of poor quality also. Second patch constructed of 1 usable side and 1 unusable side again. Unusable side on second patch was "hard". Returned to store and manager again agreed with my judgement. Amadou fungus is the best for drying flies quickly and completely. Inspect the patches to make sure both sides are usable and the patch can be used as designed, ie. pressing halves together to dry your fly.
Worked great until it got rained on. Wear inside vest and don't let it get saturated. It will never recover.

I can't believe how well and fast it drys the fly.
