My Go To Emerger -
By: flyfishne from New England
I often fish a tail water river that is slow and clear and heavily fished, therefore the trout are very selective. I've found the CDC rabbits foot emerger to be a very dependable pattern used as a dry presentation or wet presentation - letting it swing and then twitch at the end of a drift. This has been my go to emerger for BWO and Sulpher hatches. I think the profile of the fly in combination with natural materials are the reason trout seem to always hit this pattern.
Must have when dry flies are not working -

I have ordered these from Orvis many times in all available sizes. They are tied well, stay together and are tied on great hooks.

I've fished this fly in both the SulfurBrown and Palemorningdun variations and have been really happy with the results. Trout universally seem attracted to this fly at all times throughout the day with the exception of the hottest of days. I recently fished this in a local stream and had near constant hits in the early morning through to mid afternoon. Great fly!
Continues to live up to it's reputation -

I'm constantly amazed at this flies ability to produce. Last evening I used it during a heavy Caddis hatch and managed four nice browns in fairly short order. A must have in any fly box.
A Great Sulphur pattern -

Glad to see it back. I have had success right at dusk fishing this pattern on a downstream swing, twitching it just a little.

Increase your luck today.
Some patterns just have it - that ability to imitate no particular insect or food, yet somehow imitate most all of them and attract the wiliest of trout that have thus far snubbed all other offers. Think the Parachute Adams. The Woolly Bugger. The Pheasant Tail. The go-to fly. The rabbit’s foot that increases your luck. This is Rosenbauer’s Rabbit’s Foot Emerger and Parachute: Flies you simply do not want to be without on the river, especially during a hatch of Hendricksons (or Baetis, or PMDs… you get the picture). We got together with Tom Rosenbauer to ask him about this proven pattern.
