Highly enjoyable and interesting. I wish it was longer. But then I could watch a whole "Planet Earth"- style series on the biology of trout streams!

    Acquatic Life Understood - 2/28/2012

Until I watched this presentation I didn't have a true appreciation for the food sources and life of a trout. I now understand many more of the issues involving the food sources and when and how to present them. I highly recommend this CD.

    FANTASTIC! - 2/24/2011

I was completely blown away by this video. The Cutters have produced a milestone in fly fishing history. The bugs fill the screen in near high definition quality. Filmed underwater in lakes and rivers you watch all the important trout insects crawl, swim, drift, rise to the surface and emerge through the film to hatch and fly away. Turned everything I thought I "knew" upside down. If you fly fish (especially if you tie flies) this is a no brainer. Get it!

An Excellent Peek at Bug Life - 11/19/2010
    By: from Florida

I bought this DVD on a whim, expecting yet another tutorial on hatches. I was very pleasantly surprised. It is not a tutorial at all; it is a peek into the lives of trout foods -- stoneflies, mayflies, caddis flies, etc. Each fly family is presented as a collection of movies taken underwater, at the surface level, and above water, including some terrestrial shots. The narrative is interesting but these movies show you actual fly/nymph behaviors. What does the fly look like to the fish? This DVD shows underwater clips, looking up at emerging flies. It shows flies molting. It shows caddis flies "rappelling" their way down stream, etc. It is a relatively short DVD and, to some, the price may seem high. I am sure it was an expensive project, though and, to the freshwater flyfisherperson wishing to get a real glimpse of fly behavior so he/she can produce a more effective emulation, this is definitely a worthwhile purchase.
