Although well constructed this was not what I wanted. Neveertheless, Orvis return and credit was easy and fast.

    Tent sale bargain. - 4/7/2012

This is a beautiful coat for what I paid for it (less than half price). I would not have even considered it at full price (nearly £900) but it is warm, comfortable and stylish as well as being very well made. Nor do I expect to see too many more.

Finest quality and great look - 11/22/2011

This is the jacket that gets me more compliments than all other clothing items I own. It's exudes quality and has a timeless look and design to it.. the workmanship is like the finest US or Italian made suits I own, and the materials are of the finest quality. I've had it now for nearly 1 year and had it dry cleaned twice with a leather specialist... the only drawback is that it's not easy to find places qualified to clean it and the leather will dry out a bit... you just need to condition it. Wears well however and looks as good as new.

Handsome jacket with great quality - 1/29/2011

The fact Lone Pine created the Woodstock jacket was my initial assurance of quality. I have two all-leather Lone Pine coats I bought in Colorado a few years ago, and like their fit and quality of construction. When I saw this coat in wool, and since it looked very similar to an all-leather version I have, I took a chance. The coat is very well proprotioned and the coat was assmbled with care and pride. It is distinctive looking for the Midwest, whcih I like. The sleeves are a perfect length and the body is not too full despite my being a fairly slim 6'4" male. I like the leather accent piping that gives it even more distinction and the color of wool has a very "country estate" flair. It's a real keeper and I would recommend it without hesitation.

    a fine outdoorsman jacket - 9/23/2010
    By: from Portland OR

What can I say, it's worth every penny. Top grade materials, stitching, leather trim and best of all US Made in California by Lone Pine. Works great in the cold and even a light rain.. the leather doesn't stain from getting wet. The primary material a mix of wool and cashmere is very soft and dense, not like you see in less expensive wool jackets. The buttons, zipper and lining materials all seem very high quality. The hounds tooth which makes up part of the lining on the inside is also beautiful. My only complaint is I wish it had a way to narrow the waste a bit, either a pull string or maybe some kind of side buttons that give it more of a waste.

    A masterpiece - if you're built for it. - 11/26/2009

Criticizing the new Woodstock Jacket is like faulting a child who brings home a straight-A report card by saying "Why aren't these grades A-plus?" The Woodstock is a straight-A jacket, handsome and classy and well made. But for $1,000 I wanted something A-plus, and it didn't quite achieve that. I returned it, reluctantly. My biggest problem was the sleeves, which were way too long for me. I'm 5'11" but the sleeves came halfway to my knuckles. I measured the inseam and found it to be 19 inches, whereas my suit and sport jackets are 17 inches. I considered having it tailored, but the leather trim at the cuff makes this impractical - if not impossible. I also would have liked to be able to reach my hands into the rear end of the patch pockets, but there is no lateral access. If you want to warm your hands or rest your arms you have reach straight down, which is awkward. And I would have liked a waist-cinch that allowed the wearer to give the middle a little more definition. (Vanity, vanity, but hey: this a thousand-dollar item.) I also had difficulty with the zipper, though maybe that's because it was brand new. But enough fault-finding! Let me now sing this jacket's praises. It's a head-turner. Orvis calls it "olive," but I would call it classic loden - just right for a stroll in the Tyrol or around Aspen. The wool-cashmere material is very substantial yet light, and the abundant leather trim is top-notch: a glossy and rich mahogany. The stitching is excellent and the houndstooth lining is of a quality most jacket's exteriors should aspire to. I'm hoping Orvis reissues this jacket with shorter sleeves and double-entry main pockets. I'll be the first in line.
