Thin and wrinkles up -
Not really a fan. I expected them to be lightweight, but not threadbare. Washed them according to instructions, but these pants require an iron and starch. I guess I expected something different. Had they not been on clearance, I would be much more upset.
Good bargain -
Material a little lighter than I expected but very nice fit and wash well, do need ironing but not hard to do it.

Wish these pants were made in other colors as they are perfect for a professional look in the hot months. Fabric is very lightweight with good drape, cut and fit. Petite sizes in all Orvis pants would be great for the shorties among us. I do get tired of hemming!
Nicely Fitting Pants -

These pants match a skirt I bought last year. They actually fit at my true waistline - almost an impossibility these days. I will have to shorten them, however, since I wear a petite size. The linen fabric is lovely and they are well made.

I wear these pants with and without the skirt and jacket made from the same linen. As I've lost weight, I've bought the smaller sizes. The light weight striped linen is perfect for the hot southeastern climate, and can be dressed up or down as the occasion warrants. Comfort is maximized. Workmanship and style assure an outstanding garment--just what I expect and appreciate from Orvis.

I like pinstripes and linen fabric so I couldn't go wrong with this sophisticated looking pants. Orvis pants are roomy, you can go smaller, I got 8 and had to exchange it for size 6 which fits right. They don't come in petit so it's long for me and have to short it a lot (for 5'1" height), I'd make it into a cuff. The legs are straight, it could be narrower, the fabric could be heavier as I mentioned for the skirt. Over all I'm happy with the purchase.
Poor quality -

The linen is very thin and the back pocket is only 2.75" deep. It just didn't look as good in person as on the model.

The original natural fabric
The oldest fiber known to man, linen is also the most natural and most environmentally friendly fiber in the world. From the blue-flowered linum (or common flax) plant that is native to temperate climates of the Northern Hemisphere, flax has been grown for thousands of years without any damage to the environment.
The Power of Flax
Flax is a completely renewable resource and every part of the plant is used, therefore eliminating any waste. The fibers are used for textiles or paper, the resulting linseed oil is sought after for oil paints and soap, flax seeds and flax seed oil are prized for their nutritional value.
Fortitude - In and Out of Soil
A hearty plant that thrives in many diverse environments, flax requires very little fertilizer or pesticides—many times less than cotton. The resulting linen fabric is also fully biodegradeable and can be totally recycled.
Linen Through the Ages
Linen is thought to have originated in ancient Mesopotamia. The ancient Egyptians wrapped their mummies in linen strips, taking advantage of the fabric’s inherent natural strength. The strongest of all vegetable fibers, linen is two-to-three times stronger than cotton. It is actually stronger when wet, which is why it washes so well and is so durable.
Built to Last
Linen becomes softer and more comfortable with age. It absorbs moisture far better than cotton and dries more quickly, making it ideal wear for humid summers and tropical climates. Highly breathable and anti-allergenic, linen has UV-protection properties as well. Linen holds dyes and prints with excellent color fastness, so it is available in every color and print imaginable.
Ancient History to Modern Day
Today, linen is widely used for clothing, bedding, upholstery fabrics and household tablecloths, napkins, and towels. Keeping our commitment to conservation efforts and sustainability is easy with this truly renewable natural fabric. Orvis offers a full range of men’s and women’s apparel in classic, breathable, and eco-friendly fabric.
