Built from tightly woven pure cotton, our midweight Bush Poplin breathes well and wicks dust and moisture to keep you dry and cool on your adventures. Made to take on outdoor use, poplin has been standard issue in expedition and safari clothing for nearly a century and was used widely in the field during WWII. Two big button-through pleated pockets, working epaulets for binocular or camera straps, and roll-up sleeve tabs. Pure cotton. Washable. Imported.
Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52). Tall sizes 2" longer in the body and sleeve.

Sizing Information for Orvis Men's Clothing

Orvis clothes are cut generously to accommodate an active country lifestyle. We build plenty of “wearing ease” in all our garments to ensure you will enjoy them for many years. We field-test all of them on associates, and we take into consideration how the clothing will be worn. For example, when we fit outerwear, we always size it with the appropriate layers beneath. That means you do not need to order a size up for a comfortable fit.

Inseaming Guidelines: Most Orvis pants are available custom hemmed to your inseam length. In addition, many of our pants can be plain finished or cuffed. Plain finished hems are cut for length, then folded under, creased, and sewn. When tailoring a cuffed hem, we create a 1 1/4” cuff at your request. Simply specify your preference when ordering.

How to Measure

Men's Sizing In all instances, hold tape firm and level, but not tight.
a. Head: Using a flexible/soft tape measure, start 1" above the ear. Follow around head staying 1" above the ear. This will give your most accurate reading. Then refer to the chart for size.
b. Neck Circumference: Wrap tape around to the base of your front neck and allow room for wearing comfort. OR measure the collar length of a favorite shirt.
c. Sleeve Length: From the center back of your neck with your arm slightly bent, follow the tape around to your wrist bone.
d. Chest: Wrap a tape measure evenly around the fullest part under your arms.
e. Waist: Wrap tape around your natural waistline, or where you actually wear your pants.
f. Seat/Hip: Standing with your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hip (approx. 7-8" below the waist). Don’t forget to keep the tape level.
g. Inseam: Best taken from an existing pair of pants you like. Measure along the garment inseam from the crotch seam to the hem.
h. Glove Hand: Measure all the way around the flat part of your hand, excluding the thumb, and around the widest part at the knuckles. Use the chart above to convert this measurement in inches to your corresponding glove size.

Bush Poplin

Cool, crisp cotton fabric that holds up under pressure

You'll enjoy the casual comfort and style of our men's cotton drawstring pants. Bush Poplin is a microcanvas, consisting of yarns half the thickness often used in its beefier cousin, Orvis Rhinohide, yet nearly equal in it's durability. Bush Polin is a light and soft natural fabric able to withstand years of wear and washings, yet remains crisp and neat.

Great for Warm Weather Wear

Each yarn of Bush Poplin is composed of several fibers twisted tightly together, resulting in a fabric that is abrasion- resistant, yet feels cool and relatively weightless on the body. Maximizing cotton's natural advantages, the basic microcanvas weave consists of a balanced, interlocking pattern of mid-weight yarns on the warp (vertical weave) and slightly slimmer yarns on the weft (horizontal weave). This weave maximizes yarn strength while allowing for a considerable measure of breathability. You'll never feel stifled, even in the most wilting tropical heat.

The Traditional Safari Attire for Your World Adventures

Cotton poplin was the preferred fabric used by British colonists when on safari. Our collection offers the timeless and classic style of this traditional attire. Testament to poplin's versatile, rugged characteristics, it comprised the bulk of the fabrics used on all fronts during World War II. For the U.S. military, poplin fabrics struck the best balance between comfort, durability and crisp uniformity, holding up well to extensive field abuse and thousands of industrial-strength washings yet still presenting well in review. A 5-oz. cotton microcanvas, Bush Poplin is known for its comfort in warmer conditions, exceptional travel-worthiness, and durability.
