Explora Lodge, Chile

Explore the beautiful scenery of Patagonia in Chile on this Andes Mountain adventure trip.

Explora Lodge, Chile

Overview

The Explora is a luxurious mountain inn set in the heart of the Andes. The scenery is stunning and the hotel arranges excellent excursions led by knowledgeable guides -- part of the all-inclusive price -- so you can enjoy the national park with minimal planning. There are easy walks, wildlife viewing with naturalists, and rugged hikes to choose from daily on this Andes Mountains adventure trip.

The best time to visit is from November to April, and it is a great addition to a trip in Chile or Argentina. The weather is tempered by the ocean which is not far to the west, so it's mild most of the season.

This Andes Mountain trip is very popular, so book early. There is a minimum four day stay with specific start and end dates from October through April. *note there is a special rate for the Christmas and New Year's 6 night package.

The Climate

One of the unusual features of Chile travel at Torres del Paine National Park is its weather. Due to its proximity to the sea, the weather in Patagonia is mild with many sunny days a year. Average rainfall is only 27.2 inches per year, and that is evenly spread through out the year. You can sometimes find all four seasons in one day, with a constantly changing sky that adds dramatically to the view. Summer (January to March) is characterized by west winds, and winter (July to September) has very few seasonal storms along with many absolutely radiant sunny days.

Snowfall at Chile's Explora Lodge will bring with it increased wildlife viewing opportunities, as pumas and other animals make their way down to the pampas from the mountains. Springtime (October to December) displays the fruitfulness of flora and fauna, while summer has a vitality and energy all its own. Fall (April - June) brings a spectacular array of colors to the forests and landscapes. Horseback riding and walks during this time or year are particularly attractive. Nature's wonders unfold in Patagonia every day of the year.
