It's difficult to think that anyone could have made a better version of this book than Robert Redford did. The simple story brought to life with terrific acting and beautiful scenery. i defy anyone to listen to Redford's reading of MacLean's words at the end while "Old Norman" is castiing and not shed at least one tear.

Norman Maclean's stories are wonderful and a must read for any lover of the written word. This movie is able to accomplish a rare feet; to evoke the spirit of the author and capture the imagination. A wonderful movie that you will watch over again and never tire of. I can't recommend enough.
