Bought in the sale - great value particularly as I was looking for a quality and versatile hat - I would have paid twice as much had I seen it earlier. Very, very comfortable and stylish.

    colour problem - 10/11/2012
    By: from north yorks

The hat was exactly what I wanted. It would have been perfect for those days on the golf course where sun protection was required.. The colour was the problem though. It was meant to be tan, it was actually a khaki colour which didn't suit. I would ask Orvis to detail the colour in their brochure with.UK as well as US shades where the colour isn't clear to our eye

    sizes are strange - 6/12/2012
    By: from Unionville, Pa.

I wear a 73/8 hat. Now that is a pretty normal size. I ordered a large Squam Lake because it is the size I often wear in hats that only come in small, medium or large. It came down over my ears. I wasn't going to spend 7 bucks to send it back so I drove half an hour to the nearest Orvis store. I tried a medium, it also was too large so I tried a small and I could barely pull it down over my head. I would rather spend more money to get a properly sized hat than one that is produced willy-nilly,

    Bad Size - 2/22/2012
    By: from Elkton,Va.

My hat size is 6 7/8. I ordered a Small. This hat is too large to be a size Small. This is my second hat received on this order, first one was the wrong style. Now this one doesn't fit. Now what do I do? I'm tried of re-shipping. By the way, your service is great! Larry

    Poor Fit - 9/6/2011

The hat is just what I wanted, but medium was too small, large too big.

Bucket Hat Good for Fishing - 8/31/2011

The Squam Lake bucket hat is well made and fit exactly as advertised. It is rain repellent and the material and workmanship are high quality. My only complaint is that the crown of the hat is not structured so that the hat appears to be squashed on my head. If you are buying it because you are a solitary fisherman, then it's a great hat. If you have to wear it around people, expect some kidding about your appearance,

    Almost Aussie - 8/19/2011
    By: from Wolverine Country

This hat should be a useful summer time headgear. It's lightweight and has ample space with a high crown and wide brim that's almost "Aussie". This garment runs larger than what you might expect, so bear that on mind when ordering. The hat is more "boonie" than porkpie in style, a surprise to me since the illustration seems U.S. traditional "Ivy". But I'm getting used to it, and it functions very well as a protection from the sun.

    May run a little large - 10/8/2010

I may have measured wrong, but I usually take a 7 1/4 size hat. I ordered a large initially since this is what the guide suggested but it was too big. I reordered a medium and it fit perfectly.
