Tucked away in some of the most beautiful scenery in the Pacific Northwest is the town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and the site of the Orvis Idaho Fly Fishing School. The school is held at the Coeur d'Alene Resort and is one of North Idaho's most popular vacation destinations. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, and rivers, Coeur d'Alene offers a wide array of outdoor recreation including mountain biking, hiking, and boating on sprawling Lake Coeur d'Alene. The Coeur d'Alene Resort is a famous golf destination and home of the World's Only Floating Green. After fly fishing lessons, students can relax in the spa or take advantage of great nearby shopping and restaurants. The fishing school covers everything from fly casting, choosing the right tackle, leaders, and knots, to fly selection, and how to safely release fish.

DAY ONE

8:15 am	Student registration at Northwest Outfitters.
8:45	Students caravan to the Coeur d’ Alene Resort.
9:15	Introductions and discussion of class program.
9:30	Classroom presentation - lines, rods, reels.
10:30	Video presentation: The Orvis Progressive Fly-Casting Method Part One: Basic casting stroke.
10:45	Students report to casting area for demonstration of basic casting stroke; students casting.
12:00pm	Lunch.
12:45	Classroom presentation - wading safely.
1:00	Video presentation: The Orvis Progressive Fly-Casting Method Part Two: Shooting line, false casting, roll cast.
1:15	Boat ride to casting area on Coeur d’Alene lake.
1:30	Demonstration on shooting line, false casting, and roll cast; students casting. Videotape students casting.
2:45	Boat ride back to the resort.
3:00	Classroom demonstration - equipment and accessories.
3:30	Classroom demonstration - leaders and knot tying. Discussion on weights and strike indicators.
4:30	End of the first day.

9:00 am	Classroom presentation – Entomology, fly selection, and how to fish flies. Tips on how to handle, photograph, and release fish.
9:45	Video presentation: The Orvis Progressive Fly-Casting Method Part Three; video on the double haul.
10:30	Casting area - students practice casting.
11:30	Classroom presentation - Orvis-endorsed fishing vacations and fly-fishing opportunities around the world.
12:00pm	Lunch.
1:00	River trip - students caravan to Spokane River. Talk on reading water. Demonstration on fishing dry flies, nymphs, wet flies, and streamers; students fishing.
4:30	End of school.

Question: Do you fish on the lake or are there streams and rivers?

Answer - During the school, the students fish the Spokane River.

Question: When does the school start and end? What will we be doing during the day? How long will we be fishing?

Answer - Refer to the school itinerary for the schedule.

Question: What is included in the price of the school?

Answer - Use of Orvis fly rods/reels, leaders, flies, and where necessary waders, vests and fishing licenses.

Question: Is lodging included?

Answer - No. Lodging arrangements are made separately by the students.

Question: Are meals included?

Answer - Lunch is the only meal included in the school tuition price.

Question: Where can I stay?

Answer - At the hosts’ lodging, or nearby lodging of your choice.

Question: How many people will be in the class?

Answer - That depends on the school. The range is 12 to 36 students, always with a ratio of one instructor for every four students.

Question: Do we stop the school because of weather?

Answer - No.

Question: How much time is spent in the classroom vs. casting and fishing?

Question: Can you bring your own equipment?

Answer - Yes.

Question: Is this class for intermediate fisherman?

Answer - Yes. In casting, we adjust our instruction to the individual student’s level.

Question: How old do my children have to be to join me in this fishing school?

Answer - At the Santa Rosa Beach School, youngsters should be at least 14 years old (because of the heavier tackle used). All other schools we recommend 12 years of age.

Question: What is the cancellation policy?

Answer - Should you need to cancel the school within 30 days prior to the starting date, we will issue a gift certificate in the amount of the cancelled school. That gift certificate may be used toward another school date of your choice.

Question: Will I be able to attend the same class as my son/wife/etc, even though I am an intermediate and they are a beginner?
