Keep a close eye on the action with our stimulator fly pattern.

Details

Every angler that's tied on an indicator has had a fish take a swipe at that brightly colored orange or yellow ball. Why waste that opportunity? Georgia-based tier Kevin Griffin took a Stimulator, combined it with an indicator, and the Stimicator was born. Use it as a stonefly. Use it as an indicator. Use it is anything you please. It will catch fish, and you'll wonder why you didn't think of it yourself.

    An Indicator with a "point" - 1/3/2013

I look forward to fishing this both as an attractor, and as indicator with a drop.

    It Worked! - 10/10/2011
    By:

I fished this stimicator in a high sierra pond near Mt.Whitney on a spinning rod with a small drop shot and it caught a nice 11" rainbow. Of the almost a dozen different flies and spinners I used, only this stimicator and a black woolly bugger caught fish.

Useful for fast water - 9/7/2011
    By:

My wife saw these and ordered for us. Useful for dropper setup, but also found it was very visible and great solo fly for fast water. Used it very sucessfully for caddis replica. Only problem is that it does absorb moisture quickly (even floatant treated) and the foam indicator is not very durable if you are into the fish. Kept the fly, but the orange/yellow foam ball disappeared after a few catches. Overall short story is, I re-ordered it!

used it on the east outlet of the kennebec. my third cast, a brookie grabed it instead of the nymphs below. great substitute for an indicator.

    A fish I may not have caught - 6/30/2011
By: from So Cal and CO high country

I just tried my new stimucator flies for the first time and I was pleased. I think they will become a regular thing for me. I fished a nymph with the stimucator about 3 feet up from it and I caught trout on both the nymph and stimucator. I have been using thingamabobbers as indicators and have seem countless trout hit them, but with this my indicator has a hook so when I actually caught fish. I did find the stimucator does not float quit as well as even the small thingamabobber, but it still did its job. I'd say it's comparable to fishing a hopper dropper setup, with a small foam hopper, but easier to see.

    Great Fly - 1/10/2011
    By:

I bought a couple of these and decided to give them a shot. I am mostly a nymph fisherman so I rigged this up and dropped two bead head nymphs off the back. It floated well, casted well and was easily seen. I used it all day with no issues and even caught 3 trout on it that rose to it. Works great as an indicator and gives you a shot at catching a fish on it as well which you don't get out of your standard indicators.
