Summer's most breathable blend
Linen's durability, matched with rayon's soft comfort The foundation of this versatile fabric is linen, the oldest textile known to humankind. Linen's beauty, cooling properties, and durability have been prized for more than 10,000 years. Linen has two to three times the strength of cotton. With the linen, we blended rayon, the very first man-made fiber. Rayon is made from plant cellulose and was the result of French chemist Count Hilaire de Chardonnet's attempt to make artificial silk in 1889. Rayon can be spun to have the look and texture of linen. Orvis Linenweave: the perfect summer fabric Our blend of linen and rayon, Orvis Linenweave, has the cool, textural qualities of linen and the soft, comfortable drape of rayon. It resists pilling, creases, and static. It's machine washable and low-maintenance. Orvis offers a complete collection of pants, dresses, jackets, and skirts in breezy Linenweave for everyday comfort, all summer long. |
