try it on first -
I am 6' tall and ~175# and large sized garments are typically my fit. This jacket was a great length, even in the arms which is a rarity for me, but the whole thing seemed designed for a much more barrel chested build. I was swimming in the body and even the cuffs were huge on me. As for the craftsmanship and quality: it was generally fair at best. The transition from collar to shoulder was not aligned well and the immortal bunching of fabric made the jacket look cheap. The olive color though, was incredible! It has a brassy tone to it that gives the green all the luster it needs to stand way out from all the other drab earth tone greens in the market. I just about kept the jacket because of the color, but ultimately returned it because of the fit that just wasn't right for my body type. I bought the jacket because it was on steep discount (~$100 off list?), but even that seemed too much to pay for some of the shortcomings in the manufacturing. I think this would be a descent purchase at about $50, but certainly wouldn't consider it at a higher price point.
Great Jacket (Navy) -

I got this jacket as a gift in Olive for Christmas. Loved the jacket but the color just wasn't right for me; and when I saw on-line that it was no longer available in Navy, I brought it to an Orvis store in my area for a refund. However, they actually told me it was available at other stores and arranged a swap for me. The Navy is fantastic. It is a true dark Navy blue and matches the inner plaid lining really well. The gussets below the arms witht the two brass grommets are a great detail. I agree that the waist elastic is a bit loose with only a dress shirt underneath; but it makes sense when you layer over a sweater. The single design improvement I'd recommend is the detailing of the tab and buttons at the collar which are done asymetrically-while on some level, this has a kind of strict form-follows function appeal, I think for this kind of baracuta style collar the tabs should be even and symmetrical in length. Overall this is an excellent jacket and Orvis should introduce it again.
This jacket is fantastic! -

I bought this jacket last year for my youngest son (blue, size small). It was pricey, but he looked great and was so cozy in this jacket that it was worth every penny! This year I purchased the very same jacket but in medium (son growing) but also a third one in large for his older brother! Hard to find such a well-made jacket in blue corduroy. Great product!

This is a really good quality jacket. It is much heavier than we were expecting and will be a very warm winter jacket. My husband is very pleased with it. It is true to size. Another excellent buy from Orvis
You can always get what you want -

I saw the jacket online not long before I was due to visit Chicago from Australia in March. Went to the Orvis store and found the jacket was only available online. No worries as we say. Ordered a medium online before I had received sizing advice which said I need a small. Brilliant customer service stopped the shipping, organised a refund and then shipped a small waiving the internaional shipping. And the jacket - arrived yesterday in what is cold for us (15 centrigarde maximum) and I feel like I've owned it for years. Thanks Orvis.
Classy jacket -
This is a very classy jacket - very heavy in weight, so it will be great for cold weather.
Nice Jacket -
Well made, sleeve and waist bottom bands to loose. top back of jacket seems bunched up and puffy, tried different sizes, no change.
Weird Cut -

This jacket has a weird cut. Spacious in stomach, armholes high and tight, shoulders relatively narrow. Very unlike what I think of as the traditional Orvis cut, seen in the tweed jacket for instance. I tried both small and medium and neither fit.
