Low rise -
By: Squarerigger from Long Beach, CA
The cut of these pants, which are returned, is meant for a younger person who does not mind their underwear showing. The fabric is good but has a low rise from crotch to waist. Solidly built!

It took a few dozen washings to get them just right, but the jeans I bought 5 years ago are arguably my favorite pair around my ranch. My wife has patched and stitched closed every hole I've put in them,(I seem to excel at holes),and I just can't bear throwing them away. They're just tough as they can be and really take the punishment of being "ranch jeans". When I went to my local Orvis Store in Dallas and was told they didn't carry them any more I was crushed! It never occurred to me to check the web site but I'm sure glad I did.Great product !

These are very rugged pants that are tough enough for a day in the field hunting and look fine for a night out on the town.
Great- but could be better -
By: tomst from Stonington, CT
sadly, I returned these pants because while the fabric was remarkable they are not cut well. the legs are straight cut, very straight- so they fall sloppily on the shoe and the combination of color and cut left me feeling like I was wearing carhart or equivalent workwear. I'd suggest that they be cut more like the Hemp slacks Orvis sells, with a slightly tapered leg so that they are both functional and stylish. This would be a pant you could wear in the field then with a blazer if the tailoring was right. I'd certainly buy a pair, or three otherwise.

Great, the product is just what I wanted. -

It is a great canvas jean. It is not as heavy as the canvas on many field hunting pants that have a second layer of fabric sewn on the front. It is a great tough fabric but can be worn casually or for work.
Good solid pair of pants -

Robust hardy material which is rugged yet quite supple. Cut is a bit baggy from the knee down and the availability of a shorter leg length or hemming option would help getting a perfect fit - I had to take them up to avoid them masking my shoes.
Better jeans! -

I like the cut of these, more so than other Orvis trousers, but for the same reason. I have a bit of a belly and they fit on the waist, but without sagging in the seat. Nice comfy cloth and they feel like they might last 100 years!

Well made heavy duty canvas pants. Are cut on the fuller side, would work well with wearing boots. A bit stiff at first, but will break in after a couple of wearings. Please note that the color of the pants I received was a much brighter than what is shown on the website. More yellow than khaki.

Very solid - I like the feel. Great colour - not too showy either. I'm a 30 waist so expected to have to alter them but didn't expect such wide legs as well as waist. Please do a 30" waist.
