Waxed Cotton Anorak

Shut out harsh wind and rain in our men's hooded anorak jacket.

Details

The anorak was originally designed by the Inuit to protect them from the harshest elements. In the '50s the military took the design and applied it for their use and this dry-waxed cotton version is inspired by that design. Fully lined with our signature Orvis plaid lining. Pullover style with six-button neck closure. Hood with drawstring cinch. Traditional front pouch with button flap closure. Bottom cinch cord to keep out the elements. Two-button adjustable cuff. Pure cotton. Cold sponge, no soap. Imported.
Sizes M(38-40), L(42-44); about 31½" long in size large.

Looking forward to wearing it - 12/4/2014
    By: from Adelaide, Australia

I finally recieved this after a long wait (partly the manufacturing, partly my friend delayed passing it on to me).The Medium size fits fine (40in chest, 5ft 10in), although I found the hood to be a little short and pulled on my head. Was a little surprised by this, but found when it is fully buttoned up and the drawstring pulled in, it is much better. I don't walk around with a hood on often so that isn't a problem. The lining seems very suitable for autumn/winter here in Aus, and it should take light rain very well. It is waxed cotton, so I would expect a bit of weight to it. I plan to wear it as a work jacket regularly once summer's over.

Product was on back order for months. Based on reviews I was looking forward to this anorak. Ordered large based on conversation with rep and size issue In reviews. Sadly it's going back the day after it arrived. Not a product for winter wear nor does it look like a quality product. Greatly over priced, Probably why it is no longer sold. Again very disappointed .

    I don't get it - 1/16/2014
    By: from Portland, Maine

Given all of these great reviews, why does Orvis not continue to sell the coat? I finally got the one I ordered in Nov., a few days ago. It is a beautiful garment and appears to be a lot warmer than I had pictured. It's too big for my son (who wears large in most everything else). Coat now out of stock with none on order. Can anyone who has one of these tell me the maker/vendor? Orvis refused to do so.

This anorak is great, its warm and also has plenty of room to move around in. The jacket repels water great and keeps you dry in snow or rain. A great buy.

Amazing ... I should have bought this years ago - 8/26/2013

I'm a fan of Anoraks. By design, they are simple, comfortable and functional . I've owned a couple over the years but this one beats them all. Yes, it is simple and comfortable. But the functional design is head and shoulders above all the others I’ve owned. This one now hangs in its rightful spot at the front of my closet.

    well made - 7/28/2013

going into 2nd fall/winter season w/jacket. First of all saw many questions about washing this jacket. Last winter during a snow storm i was moving snow on my tractor at 5am my PTO shorted out so with out heisitation i got under the tractor and fixed the problem. when i got inside at 8am i was shocked to see grease up and down my left shelve and right shelve .I had no choose but to throw it in the wash. Yes there is a faint stain from the grease but orvall the jacket remains fine with good water and wind restace maintained.2, I use this jacket primarialy as a shell when temps reach 20 degrees and lower if the right under garments are used this jacket will keep u warm and dry for 3 hrs plus in worst weather Northern Michigan can dish out.3, I made a personal change to the jacket which might prove helpful to company or people who bought this coat. I found that the draw strings in my opintion were for the lack of a better words (cheap cord) and to short in some cases (hood) so i replaced cords with leather shoe strings, and added extra length to the hood draw cords all of which for me improved the perforce of this coat ease of use vastily.

    At long last - 7/25/2013

I've been looking for one of these for a long time. I'm 5'10 and 12st and went for the large, I tried it on with bulkiest double layered hooded jumper and its going to be ideal for cold wet weather. There's room to move but clearly it'll be functional, and I love the look
