Very Classy Looking -

Beautiful embroidery on the sweater; looks rich in color and has depth of applique in color, Very stylish collar so can be worn almost as a light jacket as well as a cardigan. I've received many compliments when I have worn it.

This is a beautiful sweater, but quite frankly, not up to Orvis quality. I wore it with khaki pants and it left black fuzz all over everything. The arms were not generously sized, so this one went back. Sorry, Orvis.
Excellent sweater -
My daughter is a Louisville Cardinal coed. The sweater is a perfect way to remind me and my family about her. The cardinal is very pretty and I love the applique berries and branches!

This sweather is even more beautiful than I had expected. The bead work is very lovely. It will be wonderful for the Christmas Season and all through winter.
A beautiful Holiday sweater.... -

Like another reviewer I found this to be a great Holiday sweater without being too over the top. The detailing is beautiful. I did exchange it for one size larger. I feel the current styling for sweaters and jackets is quite fitted and I felt the larger size was more what I traditionally wear without being too large. I have received many compliments on it.

I purchased this sweater as a Christmas present for my mother-in-law, who loves cardinals. As pretty as it was in the photo, I was still pleasantly surprised when I received it. Orvis got everything right on this one, and I rarely like embellished sweaters. The colors are dead on: distinct enough to be festive, yet subdued enough to be rich and sophisticated. The pearls and holly berry beads are perfectly scaled, and used in just the proportion to set off the embroidery without having that contrived "embellished" look. The assymetrical embroidery on the opposite collar, shoulder and sleeve is well balanced, and allows for enough of the background black to keep the piece from that "too busy" look that gives wearable art a bad name. This is a mid-weight cardigan, ensuring that it will get plenty of use. The buttons are perfectly scaled, and offset the matte black knitting with shiny, domed, faceted design, and a very narrow "braid" edge for sophistication. The fiber and knitting quality is of the high standard that one can get from few sources other than Orvis. Thanks, Orvis! I'm confident that my mother-in-law will love it.
