Cashmere Crew Pullover

This mens cashmere pullover sweater is a cut above the rest.

Not all cashmere is alike. Our double-ply pure Mongolian cashmere yarns—unlike more common single-ply cashmere yarns—lift our men's exclusive, handsome cashmere pullover sweaters a step above others in luxurious softness, warmth, and comfort. Plus, Mongolian cashmere fibers are some of the finest in the world, collected from goats of the highest steppes of Mongolia. The high altitude results in higher-quality fibers of fine underhair. When spun into our two-ply yarns, they create a superior softness and loft, and a weight-to-warmth ratio unsurpassed by any other natural fiber. The cashmere yarns are then knit by masters who hand link each seam for superior flexibility and longer wear than ordinary cashmere sweaters. Features include a ribbed waist and sleeve cuffs. Pure Mongolian cashmere. Hand wash. Imported.
Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52).

As usual the pullover is perfect. I want to say just once "the product is wrong for me" but I can't. Boring but truthful. Thanks again Orvis.

Lovely Sweater ... but it took 2 attempts - 9/28/2012
    By: from Powys

Ordered the size that would normally fit my hubby, large, and it was HUGE. Returned the item and ordered the medium and it is perfect. Lovely quality sweater - really soft and fluffy but the colour is very different to that shown on the website. On the web it shows Orange, whereas it is actually a rust/marl colour - still very nice but initially I was a bit disappointed. Guess it would have been useful to have been advised that they come up big to save paying return postage and having to re-order and to show the right colour on the website.

    A Great Sweater in a Hard-to-Find Color - 3/6/2012
    By: from Williamstown, MA

This is a beautiful sweater, a bit long for a medium size, but nevertheless outstanding especially in view of the fact that for some reason brown is a color not often found in menswear, sweaters, shirts, tees, etc. You ought to also offer it with a V-neck...and, of course, more brown clothing.

    Nice Sweater - 2/8/2012
    By: from Austin, Texas

Soft and warm. Plenty of room for layering. The color is definitely a little less true navy than the picture on the web. It's still a nice color though.

    Nice Cashmere Sweater - 1/31/2012
    By: from Irving, Texas

I have had the new cashmere sweater for close to two weeks and have found it to be most comfortable and provides about all the warmth needed down here in Texas during the winter when worn over a T-shirt and regular shirt..There is no need to wear an inconvenient jacket and always be worrying about where to stash it once indoors.

Cashmere: the fabric of kings

The ancient fabric of choice for a royal family

This men's cashmere sweater is a cut above the rest.Once again, we have Asia to thank for a prized textile. Cashmere is named for the Kashmir goats that inhabit the Himalayas and the mountainous regions of Central Asia that surround the Gobi desert. The harsh, extreme climate of the high desert plateaus are just right for producing the downy undercoat needed to make cashmere yarn. Cashmere was known to the Western world in ancient Roman times and it was the fabric of choice for Tibet’s royal family for centuries. Today, about 60% of the world’s cashmere, or approximately 3,000 tons, comes from Tibet and China.

A gift from the Gobi

The coat of a Kashmir goat consists of a coarse outer coat, sometimes referred to as guard hair, and the fine downy undercoat, which is used to make cashmere yarn. The goats grow this ultra-soft, insulating inner layer for protection from the wild drops in temperature at night in the mountains and plateaus. This superior fiber is collected annually, during the spring molting season, when the animals naturally shed their winter wool. It is traditionally removed with a comb and separated by hand. Each goat produces a mere four to six ounces of downy fiber a year.

The timeless appeal of cashmere

As a knit, cashmere is lightweight and exceptionally warm. The yarn has a soft, silky finish and can be easily dyed. Like silk, cashmere’s exotic origins and sublime softness are timelessly appealing. Orvis is proud to bring you these handsome cashmere sweaters. They are a great value, combining the ultimate in luxury with winter warmth and practicality – a wonderful gift for your friends, family, or yourself.
